Warranty Policy
1. Warranty Coverage
Alerta Family, Inc. (“Alerta,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) warrants that each Alerta Home branded device will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use for one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase.
If a covered defect arises during this period, we will, at our option:
- Repair the device with new or refurbished parts, or
- Replace the device with a new or equivalent model, or
- Refund the original purchase price if repair or replacement is not possible.
This warranty is a “limited warranty” under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
2. What This Warranty Covers
- Manufacturing or material defects that cause the device to fail under normal residential use.
- Failures confirmed through Alerta Family’s diagnostic process, which may include remote log review or return inspection.
- Firmware or software corrections needed to restore intended operation when the issue results from a hardware defect.
3. What This Warranty Does Not Cover
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage from misuse, abuse, accidents, impacts, liquid exposure, fire, power surge, or environmental conditions outside the product specifications.
- Unauthorized modifications, repairs, or opening of the device enclosure.
- Consumables and accessories (batteries, cables, mounts, stickers, etc.) unless failure is due to a manufacturing defect.
- Cosmetic wear, scratches, or discoloration that do not affect functionality.
- Loss or corruption of data stored in the app or cloud account.
- Devices with altered or removed serial numbers or labels.
- Products used beyond the applicable warranty period.
4. How to Make a Warranty Claim
To request service:
- Contact Alerta Support → care@alertahome.com.
- Provide: device model and serial number, proof of purchase, and description of the issue.
- Follow any diagnostic instructions we provide (remotely or in app).
- If a return is authorized, ship the device in protective packaging using the label we provide (if applicable).
Alerta Family will cover the cost of shipping the replacement device to you. You may be responsible for shipping the device to Alerta Family unless local law requires otherwise.
5. Software, Firmware, & Support
Alerta Family provides firmware and security updates for each product for at least three (3) years from the product’s release date or two (2) years after purchase, whichever is longer. After this period, software updates may end and functionality may be limited if our cloud services change or retire.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Alerta Family’s liability is limited to the price that the purchaser paid for the device.
- Alerta Family is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (such as loss of data, downtime, or lost profits).
- All implied warranties (including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose) are limited in duration to the same one-year period, unless otherwise required by state law.
7. Transfer of Warranty
This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable unless required by state law. For devices received as gifts, the recipient is considered the original purchaser if they have proof of purchase.
8. No Other Warranties
Except as expressly stated here, no other warranties apply. No employee, agent, or reseller is authorized to modify this warranty in writing or verbally.
9. Governing Law
This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from this warranty will be resolved in state or federal courts located in Dallas County, Texas, unless prohibited by local consumer-protection law.
10. Consumer Rights
This limited warranty gives the purchaser specific legal rights, and purchaser may also have other rights depending on jurisdiction.
